A video circulating on social media, purportedly an "address" from Ukrainian military personnel issuing threats to Tehran, has been declared a fabrication, according to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tikhiy.
"This is a fake. An staged "address" by unidentified individuals with covered faces, intended to heighten tensions," the spokesperson wrote on the X social network.
Previously, a video had been disseminated online, allegedly featuring a Ukrainian soldier who, it is claimed, "threatened to burn more Iranian-linked ships and vowed that Ukraine and its American allies would continue to fight Tehran."
On July 28, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiga, contacted the head of Iran’s MFA, Abbas Araghchi, and assured him of Ukraine’s desire to avoid escalation.
Sybiga reiterated in their conversation that all of Ukraine’s actions are solely aimed at defending its country from Russian aggression and have never been directed against civilian vessels or individuals.
On July 25, Iran accused Ukraine of attacking its merchant vessel in the Caspian Sea. Tehran labeled the attack on its ship as an act of aggression and accused Kyiv of attempting to broaden the war in Ukraine.
