There is no hidden meaning behind Princess Eugenie having her third child in Portugal rather than England. She has not had a falling out with the royal family or her parents. This is reported by Radar, citing sources close to Princess Eugenie.
Since 2022, the family has been building their life in Lisbon due to the work of Princess Eugenie’s husband, 40-year-old businessman Jack Brooksbank, who is employed by American developer Mike Meldman.
Eugenie has continued her work as a director at the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth, but she enjoys the fact that in Portugal, she has the opportunity to go about her daily business without the level of scrutiny they face in the UK.
“The decision to have the baby in Lisbon was entirely dictated by their place of residence and what made the most practical sense at this stage of the pregnancy. There was no intention whatsoever to send a message to the King, Andrew, Sarah (Princess Eugenie’s parents. – Ed.), or anyone else in the family. It was a personal family decision based on stability, convenience, and ensuring they had the most peaceful environment possible to welcome their daughter,” a family source revealed.
36-year-old Princess Eugenie gave birth to a daughter on August 3rd in Lisbon. Buckingham Palace announced that the royal family is delighted with the news. The child became 15th in line to the British throne, following her mother and her older brothers, aged five and three. Princess Eugenie’s sons were born in London.
Princess Eugenie is the younger daughter of Andrew, Duke of York, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, and Sarah, Duchess of York. In October 2025, Charles stripped Prince Andrew of his royal titles amid an investigation into his connection with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Media also learned that Andrew’s wife, Sarah Ferguson, corresponded with Epstein.
